Jenica grew up in a small town outside Bellingham, WA and pursued her undergraduate degree at Western Washington University. Before attending graduate school, she worked in elementary and middle schools as a bilingual speech-language pathology assistant. She then earned her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Portland State University in 2019 with a specialization in bilingualism. Now back in her home state, Jenica looks forward to empowering families of all backgrounds to support their child’s development and growth.
Jenica specializes in working with multilingual families and has a strong interest in collaborating with interpreters to provide equitable services. She delivers services in both Spanish and English and continues to pursue learning new languages to better serve the families on her caseload. She also has additional training in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and is working to develop the AAC program at Northwest Center in conjunction with her colleagues to address the complex communication needs of many children.
On the weekends, Jenica frequently participates in neighborhood litter pickups, has picnics in the park, and visits the local farmers’ markets.
