Ruby and Trevin both were hired in June to do similar jobs, but typical of the area covered by Northwest Center in Omak, these jobs are both quite a distance from the Omak Office. They, and their job developer, and two different employers are celebrating “Triple Wins.”
Ruby’s job is 94 miles away from Winthrop at Akins Foods in Oroville, WA just south of the Canadian Border on Hwy 97. Ruby likes her new job a lot, and she will freely tell you that it is “way better” than her seasonal job packing cherries. She started packing cherries helping her family and to make some spending money while she was still in high school. She worked long shifts beside her mother as a condition of her employment and literally watched millions of cherries go by on a conveyer belt as she sorted defective fruit. Fortunately, Ruby was referred to DVR and after a long process qualified for DDA Services.
Ruby and Trevin put their aisles together so well that their job coach hates to see a product leave their “work of art aisles.” They are both banner employees for their respective employers, and they both deserve to be “Triple Winners!”
